The Shpilman Institute for Photography (The SIP) supports innovative research that advances the understanding of photography and related media. The SIP announces two calls for papers for its 2011 Grants Program. The first is devoted specifically to research in philosophy and photography; the second is a general call for research in the field of photography.

The Strabag Artaward International is an international subsidy award for artists under the age of forty in the fields of painting and drawing. It is a continuation of the Strabag Artaward that has been awarded to Austrian artists for the past thirteen years and will now include four countries for three years each. From 2009 until 2011, artists from Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia are eligible to participate for the first time.

For the 14th year running, apexart accepts 600-word, idea-based proposals for exhibitions in New York City. Reviewed independently, anonymously and without support materials, submissions are evaluated solely on the strength of the idea.
